After the success of BASS 2008 in Paris the idea to continue the project took shape. Every two years there should be an international double bass congress in a different European city for double bass professionals, artists and friends to interact and mingle.

The organizing team

In the organising team for BASS2010 the following reknowned double-bass players and friends have come together:

• Stephan Petzold, professor for double bass at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler Berlin
• Michael Wolf, professor for double bass at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK)
  
• Christine Hoock, professor for double bass at the Mozarteum Salzburg
• Stephan Bauer, soloist with the Niederbayrische Philharmonie
• Zsuzsa Balint, professor for piano at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK)
• Stefan Nestler, CEO bassico as well as
• Alexander Saier, CEO publisher Musikedition Saier UG and chairman of the Förderverein (supporting association) BASS2010 e.V.

In close cooperation within the institutional framework of the Förderverein BASS2010 e.V. we are in charge of the artistic leadership and organisation of the event.
