After the great success of Bass2008 in Paris we are delighted to be able to present you BASS2010 in Berlin, Germany from 5 to 10 October this year at the Universität der Künste (University of Arts, UdK), the Jazz Institut Berlin (JIB) and the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler (Music Academy Hanns Eisler).
From classic to jazz
The one-week festival is characterised by a broad range of styles from old music to jazz, to classic, rockabilly and experimental performances and concerts by soloist players and reknowed double bass ensembles. Additionally there will be masterclasses by international professors and teachers. Parallel to the daily presentations and concerts there will be competitions in the categories ‘Solo’, ‘Jazz’ and ‘Audition’ with attractive prizes. The competition winners will then be performing at the convention.
Music Science and Musicians’ Health
The musical offers will be complemented by a series of scientific music seminars as well as workshops on musicians’ health issues on the double bass by physiotherapist Angela Gebler, who will also be offering individual sessions.
Exhibitors
Numberous exhibitors informing about instrument, string and bow-making, the latest literature and double bass accessories will be present during the convention, where convention visitors and participants will be able to purchase CDs, DVDs and sheet music around the double bass.
For kids and grown-ups
BASS2010 also caters for kids and youngsters: For the youngest from six years of age the Youth-Competition, concerts to play along as well as lessons and group projects invite everyone to join in. Playing music together and fun playing the double bass are central to all these activities. The physical therapist Angela Gebler conducts a workshop ‘My child – Fit for the double bass’ for children and their parents.
